The mindfridge co-operative is a collection of like-minded people who pool their resources to run a professional server at a low cost (compared to the commercial alternatives).
We do not make a profit, just share the running costs of a server between a number of people.

Please visit www.crosswired.org.uk for more information about co-operatives.

We are just getting started at the moment, for more information please for the hardware. This is just a sample and not necessarily what we will end up with. I have a recommendation that P4's are not good chips to have in a 1U server as they get too hot, so we will probably go with a PIII.

Software
Thinking of running RedHat7.2 or 7.3 as this is the distribution I have most experience in. However it has been reccommended we should consider running a more 'closed' version of linux to restrict the number of people that could destroy the server! eg. Usermode linux, Ensim, FreeVsd, or the FreeBSD

Status
We currently have 3 out of 8 people.
